A BLISTERING 99 by Romesh Kaluwitharana launched Sri Lanka to a series-clinching six-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the fourth one-day international in Harare on Saturday. Zimbabwe totalled 260 for four to which Sri Lanka replied with 262 for four in 44.4 overs to win with 32 balls to spare. Kaluwitharana scored his runs off just 86 balls with 11 fours and a six as Sri claimed the five-match series 3-0 with Sunday’s final match to come. One match was rained off. Sri Lanka won the preceding three-match test series 1-0. Kaluwitharana featured in the major partnership of the innings, a third-wicket partnership of 144 with Mahela Jayawardene scored off 140 balls. The stand ended in the 31st over when Kaluwitharana dragged a ball from paceman Henry Olonga onto his stumps. Jayawardene was caught behind by wicketkeeper Andy Flower off fast bowler Eddo Brandes for 63. Zimbabwe also had a batsman to cheer, man-of the-match Stuart Carlisle, who scored an undefeated 121 off 138 balls with eight fours and four sixes. The biggest partnership of the innings was 131, scored off just 77 deliveries by Carlisle and Flower, who hit 53 off 30 balls before being caught on the cover boundary off fast bowler Pramodya Wickramasinghe from the last ball of the innings.
