FIREWORKS GUTS WAREHOUSE

A FIRE that razed a warehouse in Durban on Saturday shortly after midnight caused damage estimated at R30-million. According to a statement, police suspect a misdirected flare landed on the building, causing the fire to break out at five minutes past midnight. The fire department responded promptly and the flames were doused. However, the paper stored in the warehouse in Johnson Lane on the Maydon Wharf was completely destroyed.
