TWO Swazi men who slipped across the South African border to visit a herbalist got more than they bargained for: the muti they were given killed them off in a few minutes. Nazareth Shabangu, 42, and Mfanasibili Maduna, 21, believed they were suffering from an excess of bile that was making them ill. They illegally crossed the border last weekend to visit a herbalist at Ingwavuma, about 12km from the border in northern Zululand. Going straight there, they explained their symptoms and the herbalist gave them some muti to drink. Immediately afterwards they started feeling dizzy and vomiting. The herbalist gave them other muti as an antidote to the first dose, but they died within a few minutes of taking it. Police have opened a docket of culpable homicide.
