MALAWIAN President Bakili Muluzi has dissolved his cabinet amid allegations of corruption levelled at some of his ministers, government officials said on Monday. In a statement issued from the presidential palace in the commercial city of Blantyre on Sunday, Muluzi gave no formal reason for his action. The current cabinet stands dissolved with immediate effect, Muluzi said. The statement did not say when a new government would be formed. Non-governmental organisations and the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had urged Muluzi to probe some members of his cabinet for corruption and mismanagement. One high profile case involved Finance Minister Cassim Chilumpha who has been linked to a pre-shipment scandal by the ACB.
