ENGINEERING company Siemens is part of a consortuim that has lodged a proposal with the National Electricity Regulator to build South Africa’s first independent power producer. Siemens’ partner in the R1,2-billion bid is Rainbow Technologies, an electrical engineering company. Together they form the Rainbow Millenuim Power Company. It is estimated that the proposed coal-fired power station in Richards Bay will create 120 direct jobs and more than twice that number in related jobs.
