MALI PRESIDENT JETS IN

MALI President Alpha Oumar Konare flew into South Africa on Thursday for a working visit which will include talks with President Thabo Mbeki. Konare is accompanied by a delegation which includes Foreign Minister Modibo Sidibe and the executive secretary of the 15-member Economic Community of West African States Lassana Kouyate. Mbeki will officially receive Konare on Friday morning at government’s Union Buildings before the talks start. Konare is also due to meet various South African cabinet members and representatives of giant gold mining house Anglogold, which has interests in Mali.
