WAUGH CLEARED FOR SA TOUR

STEVE Waugh will lead the Australian cricket team on its brief tour of South Africa later this month after being cleared of serious injury during the third and final test against New Zealand. The Australian captain was forced to retire hurt on Monday after being struck on the left wrist while batting against the Kiwis in Australia’s second innings. Waugh had x-rays on his injured wrist on Tuesday before returning to Australia but the fiery batsman was found to have suffered no broken bones. Waugh confirmed that he will lead the world champions in the one-day series starting on April 12. South Africa will play arch-rivals Australia in six one-day matches this year, three in South Africa in April and three in Australia in August.
