LEFT-arm wrist spinner Paul Adams, sidelined since breaking a finger while fielding in the fifth test against England in January, returns to the South African squad for their tour of Sri Lanka in July and August. The 16-man squad named on Monday includes the 13 players who contested the three-match one-day series against Australia which finished on Sunday, plus Adams, top order batsman Daryll Cullinan and pace bowler David Terbrugge. Adams, who broke a finger diving to save a ball on the boundary during the rain-shortened Centurion Test, missed the recent tour of India, where another left-armer, Nicky Boje, made the most of his opportunity with a superb all-round performance in the second test in Bangalore. He won the man-of-the-match award as South Africa clinched the test series 2-0. Adams and Boje are the only two spinners in the party which will travel from Sri Lanka to Melbourne for a return three-match limited overs series against Australia in mid-August.
