THE New South Wales Waratahs kept the Otago Highlanders on tenterhooks for a Super 12 rugby semi-final place with a gritty 22-15 victory at the Sydney Football Stadium on Friday night. The Waratahs scored two tries in the last five minutes to sink Otago’s hopes of winning points to clinch their place in next week’s semis. NSW led 12-6 at halftime after dominating the opening term, but the Highlanders were more in control of the second half and hit the front 15-12 with their fifth penalty goal eight minutes left. The Waratahs then hit back, with Christian Warner diving over for the opening try to put the home side back in front 17-15. Then skipper Jason Little toed ahead the loose-ball to score.
