BANDA’S FAMILY GRAVELY UPSET

RELATIVES of former Malawian president Hastings Kamuzu Banda are accusing the government of secretly plotting to exhume and re-bury the late autocrat. The government announced last weekend it had set up a task force to look into the possibility of relocating Banda’s remains to a proper Heroes Acre. But Banda’s family and members of the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) warned that moving the former president’s remains would be against the traditions of the Chewa people. – African Eye News Service
