Mandela urges end to Libya sanctions

Former South African President Nelson Mandela has called for the United Nations to lift sanctions against Libya after the end of the Lockerbie airliner bombing trial this week. ”They must be lifted. The West must not move the goal posts,” Mandela told journalists. He said he hoped to meet US President George W Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair soon to discuss the matter, but he added he would not do so until after he had seen and studied the court judgment, which sent Abdel-Basset al-Megrahi to jail for life. – Reuters
