WILL CHILUBA STAY OR WILL HE GO?

MORE than 100 supporters of Zambian President Frederick Chiluba have protested in favour of amending the constitution to allow him to run for a third term in office. The demonstration came one day after the Lusaka conference of Chiluba’s Movement for Multiparty Politics (MMD) voted against a possible third term, becoming the first province to do so. The protesters, led by Lusaka district administrator Steven Bwalya, demanded the immediate resignation of the party’s provincial leaders for allegedly not backing the president. – AFP
