BP STRIKES OIL IN ANGOLA

LEADING oil companies BP Amoco and Shell said on Tuesday they had made two further oil discoveries in Angola. The new discoveries – at the Cromio and Cobalto wells – mean the two oil majors have now discovered oil in all six wells drilled to date in the region. “Drilled in the vicinity of four existing discoveries, these wells significantly enhance confidence in the reserves discovered to date,” said a statement released by BP. Angola pumps about 750 000 barrels of oil a day, and is considered one of the world’s leading offshore oil regions. – Reuters
