NINE AID WORKERS SNARED IN MOGADISHU

NINE expatriate aid workers, including three Britons and a US citizen, have been abducted or trapped by fighting between rival militias that claimed a dozen lives in the Somali capital. Fighting continued into the night in various parts of Mogadishu, according to the United Nations. Four of six international UN workers on a brief assessment trip to Mogadishu were abducted by men loyal to warlord Musa Sudi Yalahow during a protracted gun battle with a rival group outside a compound used by Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). – AFP
