FREEDOM FRONT CRIES FOUL, PETITIONS UN

SOUTH Africa’s white Afrikaner- supported Freedom Front party appealed to the United Nations on Thursday to help tackle what it said was an increasing number of racially motivated attacks on their community. The party which advocates Afrikaner self-determination and the right to a separate homeland presented the UN’s International Human Rights Commission with a paper outlining the ”systematic erosion” of Afrikaner security and criticising the government’s failure to deal with the problem. ”A definite anti-Afrikaner climate is allowed to be encouraged,” Freedom Front leader Pieter Mulder told a news conference. ”Anti-Afrikaner slogans are not immediately repudiated, criticised or condemned by government.” Mulder said attacks on Afrikaners, particularly farmers, were increasing at an alarming rate. – Reuters
