BLOOD SPILT IN KZN

FIVE gunmen shot dead the Sunduzwayo chief and another man at Umbumbulu on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast on Saturday, police reported on Sunday. Captain Vishnu Naidoo said chief Dingindawo Shange and Boysy Shangase both aged 39, were found dead with bullet wounds at 5am near a river. He said the gunmen abducted both the men at their homes around 9pm on Saturday night. The gunmen first abducted Shangase and forced him to lure Shange out of his house before taking then to the river. Naidoo said the men forced the deceased to stand in the river before opening fire on them. They both sustained several shot wounds. The gunmen used 9mm calibre firearms. He said it was believed the motive for the murder was related to the on going faction fights in the area over chieftaincy. Shange was ambushed by attackers who used R4 rifles while driving his minibus in August last year . He returned fire forcing his attackers to flee but suffered a wounded ankle. – Sapa
