Four injured in Cape Town drive-by shooting

Four people including two children were shot and wounded by two gunmen in Lenton Road, Bishop Lavis in Cape Town on Wednesday, Western Cape police said.

Captain Jermyn Marais identified the victims as Calvin Koopman (22) Donita Roberts (20) and cousins Michael and Virgell Solomons, aged seven and eight respectively.

Marais said the four were walking along Lenton Road when the gunmen, who were sitting on the back of a white Nissan bakkie, opened fire around 1.40pm.

Michael was wounded in the right upper leg and Koopman in the head and stomach. They were both taken to Elsiesriver Day Hospital where Koopman was in a serious condition.

Roberts was wounded in the buttocks and Virgell in the right ankle. They were both taken to Bishop Lavis Day Hospital. Marais said the motive for the attack was unknown.
