‘Witches’ stoned, burned to death

A mob stoned and burned to death a 54-year-old woman and her 24-year-old daughter whom they accused of practising witchcraft, Limpopo Province police said on Friday.

Police representative Captain Mohale Ramatseba said the incident happened at the Springfield village in the Bochum district on Thursday.

He said Mawina Sedumo and her daughter Elekina were abducted from their home by a group of youths and pelted with stones.

The mob then doused the two with petrol and set them alight in the bush.

No arrests have been made. – Sapa
