MORE WORK AND LESS PLAY ON INTERNET

ACCORDING to a recent survey, the Internet is more of a workhorse and less of a hobby in the US. The number of people who used the Internet at work in the US jumped from 43 million to 55 million during the period March 2000 to January 2002. Not surprisingly, 44% of those who have Internet access at work said it helped them to do a better job. E-mail makes up much of the use of the Internet, said the survey, with 51-million US users in March 2001. This represents a 70% increase in just one year from just 30 million in the previous year.
