MAN IN COURT FOR BABY RAPE

THE 23-year-old man who was arrested more than a week ago in connection with the rape of baby Tshepang in October last year, will appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court again on Monday. The suspect briefly appeared in court last Monday, March, 11, but the case was postponed to allow him to get legal representation. The man was arrested in Vredenburg in the Western Cape. Six people were arrested in October shortly after the baby, who was nine-months-old at the time, was raped and sodomised. However, they were released in January when DNA tests failed to link them to the crime. A suspect accused of a sexual offence may not be named before he has pleaded. – Sapa
