Sun Air flights red leather business class trips

Johannesburg | Thursday

BUSINESS executives wishing to avoid the congested route to and from Johannesburg International Airport can now avail themselves of daily flights between Cape Town International and Lanseria Airports.

Sun Air’s first flights using DC9-32 aircraft with a 72 seat configuration were introduced on March 18 and have proved successful so far, according to managing director Johan Botha.

”With two scheduled flights from each destination daily — except for Sundays — we are opening a niche market,” Botha said on Wednesday.

He said his target market was business people living in the northern areas of Johannesburg, Sandton, Midrand and the eastern areas of Pretoria. Botha reckoned that 72% of the business community in Johannesburg lives north of the city.

Botha also promised that passengers would travel in red leather seats with an increased cabin crew capacity of 25%.

Although the airline currently offers a special introductory tariff of R1 500 for a return ticket, eventual return tickets will cost R2 999 per person.

Sun Air is jointly owned by Airquarius Contracts (Pty) Ltd and Million Air Charter Limited.
