Krige, Barry recalled to Bok squad

Springbok coach Rudolf Straeuli has made four changes to the squad that did duty in the 34-19 first-test victory over Wales in Bloemfontein for Saturday’s second test at Newlands.

Corne Krige and De Wet Barry, included in the original test 22 but forced to withdraw because of injury, both passed fitness tests. They replace Warren Britz and Andre Snyman respectively.

Fullback Ricardo Loubscher has been ruled out because of injury and lock Victor Matfield has been omitted.

Bok team doctor Uli Schmidt said Loubscher would be out of action for between two and three weeks because of a rib muscle strain. ”It is encouraging that the likes of Krige and Barry have recovered from injury. They add depth to our 22. Naturally, there will be disappointed players, but the onus on those who have not made it is to fight their way back,” said the national coach.

”The positive from Bloemfontein was that we won, but we as a team are constantly looking for improvement.”

Werner Greeff and Hottie Louw are the new additions to the squad. The starting 15 will be named on Wednesday afternoon.
