Alberton man charged with raping his daughters

A 33-year-old Alberton man will appear in court on Thursday on charges of rape, incest and indecent assault for allegedly abusing and raping his two daughters, aged four and 10.

The police are also investigating the involvement of the man’s father –the children’s grandfather — in the abuse and rape of the children, police representative Annaline Prinsloo said on Wednesday.

The East Rand branch of the police’s Child Protection Unit arrested the 33-year-old kitchen interiors contractor at the Sundome in Northgate, Randburg, on Tuesday.

The man lives with his family in the upmarket Alberton suburb of Randhart. His wife, suspecting that the children had been abused, approached the unit and asked them to investigate. The two girls were examined by a doctor who confirmed that they had been vaginally and anally penetrated.

Prinsloo said police were investigating an allegation that the man also raped a 10-year-old friend of one of his daughters. Police believe that at one stage the man gave his children money to have sex with him.

He will face two incest, three rape and three indecent assault charges when he appears in the Alberton Magistrate’s Court.

Police suspected that other children might have been abused by the man and are investigating allegations by other family members and friends of the children, Prinsloo said. – Sapa
