Cape Town club owner shot dead

A Cape Town club co-owner was shot dead when four armed robbers held up staff and patrons shortly after midnight on Monday, Western Cape police said.

The victim was identified as Justin Underwood (32) co-owner of Cafe De Blanche in Trill Road, Observatory. Police representative Captain Jacques Wiese said the men entered the club at 12.20am and took cash and valuables from the nine patrons.

They also emptied the cash register.

Wiese said Underwood followed the gunmen as they fled on foot. One of the gunmen fired a shot hitting Underwood in the head. He died at the scene. – Sapa
