Dolly Mokgatle, Managing Director (Eskom Transmission) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of South Africa rail parastatal Spoornet.
Business Day reports that the appointment was made after a lengthy and wide-ranging search.
The appointment comes at a crucial time for Spoornet, with the newly profitable organisation in the midst of an extensive restructuring programme in a bid to ensure that it remains on a sustainable profit path.
The organisation has been without a permanent head since August last year, when former head Zandile Jakavula was dismissed after an inquiry into his controversial acquisition of a railway house in Port Alfred.
Mokgatle joined Eskom in 1991 as a legal adviser before becoming its corporate legal consultant. She held the posts of senior general manager and later executive director of growth and development and executive director of corporate affairs.
Mokgatle was appointed to the Eskom executive management committee in 2002. – I-Net-Bridge
