Inquiry demand after Israelis kill journalist

British diplomats have called for a full investigation into the fatal shooting of an award-winning journalist by Israeli troops.

James Miller died early yesterday after being shot in the neck by the Israeli army at Rafah, in the Gaza Strip, near the Egyptian border. He was filming a house demolition with reporter Saira Shah when he was struck by a bullet fired from an Israeli tank.

Miller and Shah are best known for their award-winning film Beneath the Veil, a Channel 4 documentary about women living under Taliban rule in Afghanistan.

The pair, who were making a film for the US channel HBO, were in one of the most dangerous parts of the occupied territories when Miller was killed.

Footage filmed by peace activists of the International Solidarity Movement shows he was wearing a bullet-proof vest, holding a white flag and was visible under a light. – Guardian Unlimited Â
