Rare animals under the hammer this weekend

International buyers will be able to acquire rare animals such as the endangered black rhinoceros at an auction at one of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife’s premier parks, the conservation body said on Friday.

The auction, to take place on Saturday at Zululand’s Hluhluwe-iMfolozi National Park, will see an estimated 1 600 animals under the hammer.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife spokesman Jeff Gaisford said white and black rhino, nyala, giraffe, zebra, warthog, kudu and hartebees would be auctioned.

Around 2 000 potential buyers and spectators were expected to attend.
