Springbok prop Lawrence Sephaka was involved in a motor accident that left a pedestrian dead in Germiston on Tuesday, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Wednesday.
Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said Sephaka allegedly ran a woman over while driving a bakkie to Johannesburg International Airport.
He said it was not known how the accident happened and there had been no witnesses.
Sephaka was not hurt, but police, in accordance with standard procedure, were investigating a charge of culpable homicide, said Kgasago.
Cats chief executive officer Johann Prinsloo confirmed that Sephaka had been involved in an accident. Sephaka was in Cape Town on Tuesday but would be training with the Cats in Johannesburg on Wednesday. – Sapa
