Injuries rule out two Boks

Injured rugby Springboks fullback Jaco van der Westhuyzen and centre Marius Joubert have been ruled out of the side to play the All Blacks in the second home Tri-Nations Series Test at Loftus on Saturday.

The announcement was made during a media briefing in Durban on Monday where the Springboks and their New Zealand opposition have set up home bases for training purposes at sea level ahead of Saturday’s huge confrontation in Pretoria.

In addition the South African squad has been increased to 26 with the call up of hooker John Smit, lock Geo Cronje, flank Joe van Niekerk, flyhalf Andre Pretorius, centre Andre Snyman and wing Ashwin Willemse for training purposes after injury rehabilitation.

Flanker Bob Skinstad may join the squad as well before the week had run its course.

The Springboks will have only one open training session this week. That will be on Tuesday morning at Kings Park 2 from 9am.

There will also be an open light run on Friday morning at 9:30 am. – Sapa
