In the night’s other Premier League game, Liverpool played a 0-0 draw at Anfield against Tottenham.
Arsenal and Man United each have nine points atop the standings with Arsenal leading on goal difference.
Chelsea, who have played only two league matches, are the only other team with a perfect record. Man City and Portsmouth each have seven points in three early-season games.
Arsenal took a 1-0 lead in the 57th on Sol Campbell’s goal and then clinched the match with a late goal from Thierry Henry.
Arsenal have scored eight goals and given up one in league play.
Man United went ahead 1-0 in the 10th on John O’Shea’s goal.
United rested some of their regulars and started Brazilian Kleberson and Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
It marks the first time in 18 years that Man United have won their first three league games.
With the 0-0 draw, Liverpool have scored only one goal in three games.
