Sundowns held Ajax Cape Town to a 1-1 draw in their Castle Premier League match played at Odi Stadium in Mabopane on Wednesday night. Ajax led 1-0 at half-time.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Mulekilayi Kanku, who banged home a loose ball in the Sundowns area after an error from Sundowns ‘keeper Andre Arendse.
Sundowns scored their consolation goal late in the gane through substitute Paulus Masehe in the 70th minute.
In Durban, Lamontville Golden Arrows collected maximum points when they beat Black Leopards 3-1 in a Castle Premiership game played at Chatsworth Stadium.
The home side led 1-0 at interval.
The first goal was scored by Carlos Baute in the 30th minute, which came following a corner kick taken by Siphesihle Ngobese.
In the second half Leopards pushed forward in numbers in search for an equaliser. When Arrows coach Simon Ngomane noticed that his side was under pressure, he took off Tsepo Ntsoane in the middle of the park for Siza Dlamini in the 58th minute.
This substitution bore fruits for Abafana Bes’thende as Dlamini’s first touch a minute later found Ngobese who put his side 2-0 up.
Kelvin Mushangazhike reduced the deficit in the 79th minute.
But the Leopards’ hope of getting an equaliser did not last long as Mabhuti Khanyeza netted Arrows’ third goal a minute later.
This was Ngomane’s first win in three games. He lost to Moroka Swallows and played to a goalless draw against Sundowns. — Sapa
