Santos move closer to their goal

A goal in each half gave Santos three full points although they did not deserve it when they beat Dynamos 2-0 in a Castle Premiership match at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night.

This win puts Santos second on the log — a point behind Ajax Cape Town.

In the eighth minute Kamaal Saait pushed Simphiwe Mbambo in the box and referee Ace Ngcobo pointed to the spot and booked Saait.

Joel Seroba took the penalty kick and Brendan Wardele dived to his left to save.

Dynamos made the odd raid into Santos territory and in the 14th minute Helder Mulanga moved smartly down the left, rounded Saait, and powered a shot which went into the side net.

On the half hour David Mathebula’s 20m free kick was well-saved by Wardele.

The home side took the lead in the 38th minute when Mxolisi Mchunu’s 35m free kick went into the far right. Jean Marc Ithier rose high to head home.

Aime Kitenge saved the point-blank shot from Tyrone Arendse in the 56th minute and the ball went to Marawan Bantam, who had just come on, and his shot was brilliantly saved.

In the 65th minute Tomric Tshabalala’s shot from the left skimmed the cross bar.

In the 86th minute Fees Moloi would have been through but Tshabalala pulled him back and earned a yellow card.

However Moloi scored his goal in the 90th minute with a powerful shot which rocked the net. – Sapa
