Silver Stars win comfortably

Manqoba Mkhize scored a goal in each half to give Silver Stars a deserved 2-0 win over Zulu Royals in a Castle Premiership match at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.

Mkhize, who scored a brace in the 3-2 over Santos last week, opened the scoring against Royals with a superb strike in the 41st minute. He scored again in the 73rd minute thanks to the timid defence.

Stars had the better of the visitors throughout the 90 minutes and should have won the match by a wider margin, but poor finishing let them down on several occasions.

Apart from Ivan Zwane and John Maduka’s attempts in the 17th and 51st minutes respectively Royals did not trouble the Stars defence.

This win gives Stars a further boost to finish strongly in the second half of the season, while Royals will have to work hard to avoid relegation. – Sapa
