Jomo Cosmos are bracing themselves for a tough game against Kaizer Chiefs in a Premier Soccer League match at Mmabatho Stadium in North West on Sunday.
It will be the second professional match staged in Mmabatho after defending champions Orlando Pirates and Silver Stars played to a 2-all draw last Sunday.
Cosmos owner Jomo Sono, who is also the club’s head coach, said their preparations for the big game against Amakhosi are going according to plans.
‘We have been playing well despite failing to win the last two games (against log leaders Santos and Ajax Cape Town). Our problem is failure to convert our chances into goals,†said Sono.
‘It’s only a matter of time before we return to our winning ways, our plan is to finish the season in the top eight bracket on the log,†added the former Bafana Bafana coach.
Chiefs won the first round match 2-1. They resumed their challenge for the league title with a 1-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night after a five week break because of the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia.
The 2001 African Club of the Year had seven players selected to represent Bafana Bafana, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo during the tournament.
Cosmos marketing manager Nyiko Sono urged the thousands of people expected to watch the game to come early.
‘Tickets will be sold at the Mmabatho Stadium on Sunday from 8am, we urge the soccer lovers who will be coming to the game to buy the tickets early.
‘Tickets for adults cost R20 and R10 for children. VIP tickets are available at R35 a person from Jomo Cosmos’ offices. Interested people should phone Nathi at (011) 683-6120/1.
‘There will be curtain-raisers featuring local clubs, it will be a great day of football entertainment,†she added. – Sapa
