Kaizer Chiefs move closer to PSL title

Kaizer Chiefs moved closer to winning the Castle Premiership when they scored a comfortable 2-0 win over a disappointing Manning Rangers in a league clash played at the FNB Stadium on Sunday.

Chiefs led 1-0 at half-time. They were well on top of an outclassed Rangers side that seemed determined to defend until David Radebe had scored a superb goal to put Amakhosi 1-0 ahead in the 30th minute.

Radebe did well to finish off a great move started by wingback Cyril Nzama and scored a goal that gave visiting ‘keeper Chad Harpur no chance.

Rangers had a narrow escape in the fifth minute when Kabamba Musasa’s shot was deflected over the crossbar. Harpur did well to prevent John Moshoeu and Stanton Fredericks scoring in the 15th and 28th minutes respectively.

Harpur who was one of the busiest players on the pitch came to Rangers rescue in the 53rd minute when he managed to deny the overlapping Nzama a goal.

Two minutes later Harpur did well to stop Radebe adding to his first-half goal with another fine save.

But Harpur could do little to stop Fredericks making it 2-0 in the 58th minute after the Chiefs winger was left unmarked on the far post and hammered home a pass from Radebe to send Chiefs on their way to another three points.

Chiefs substitute Sibusiso Dlamini should have made it 3-0 in the 66th minute, but the striker missed an open goal when Radebe set him up with an easy chance to score.

Both Dlamini and Radebe fluffed a chance to increase Chiefs lead in the 82nd minute when they both passed the ball to each other while they had Harpur beaten. — Sapa
