Swallows advance to last eight

Moroka Swallows advanced to the quarterfinals of the Absa Cup on Saturday by eliminating the Eastern Cape’s Tornado FC 4-0 at Rand Stadium.

Swallows led 1-0 at the break.

Swallows coach Gavin Hunt played Gary McNab as a striker and it worked. McNab scored Swallows’ first goal four minutes before the break after meeting a cross from midfielder Mark McVeigh, beating Tornados ‘keeper Sabatha Mbongozi hands down.

In the second half Hunt made a clever substitution and it too worked. He replaced striker Carlo Scott with Edzai Kasinauyo while Warren Lewis was replaced by Shaun Permall.

Both subs managed to get on to the scoresheet with Permall scoring the third and Kasinauyo grabbing the last goal in the 82nd minute.

Earlier, Zambian striker Dennis Lota scored the second goal just three minutes into the half. — Sapa
