British and United States intelligence agents on Tuesday claimed to have foiled a chemical terrorist attack in Britain, news reports said on Tuesday.
According to the BBC, the agents believe that the people behind the plot are sympathisers of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda terrorist network.
Sources revealed that the terrorists wanted to make a bomb, made up of explosives and osmium tetroxide, designed to kill British civilians.
The gas is poisonous if inhaled and, according to reports, can be fatal in closed spaces.
The agents allegedly intercepted messages being exchanged between the terrorists and were able to put a premature end to the plans for a terrorist attack.
It is not believed that the terrorists had osmium tetroxide in their possession.
The attack was probably planned for London.
