Blue Bulls loose forward Jacques Cronje was on Wednesday called up to the Springbok training camp in Bloemfontein as cover for Joe van Niekerk.
Van Niekerk injured his groin during the first day of fitness training.
”Joe suffered a slight groin strain during fitness, but he is still in line to play the Test,” said Bok communications manager Anthony Mackaiser after the training session.
”Jacques is just there to train with the squad at the moment and get a feel for it.”
The first day of Jake White’s extensive training camp otherwise went well, while Faan Rautenbach — the other player in the 22 who has been carrying an injury most of the season — came through well.
Percy Montgomery, meanwhile, saw a specialist regarding his injured hand and had the plaster removed, according to Mackaiser.
”He still has a very good chance of playing in the Test,” added Mackaiser. — Sapa
