Top defender calls it a day

Top South African soccer defender Lifa Gqosha of Premiership side Dynamos in Limpopo has decided to hang up his boots.

Gqosha is planning to pursue a career as a coach after his contract with the club expired at the end of the 2003/04 soccer season.

He is likely to be employed by the club as an assistant coach or be given the job of heading their development programme.

Gqosha was one of the players who helped Dynamos gain promotion to the elite league three seasons ago after winning the First Division League Inland stream.

The Soweto-born defender started his professional football career at Umtata Bush Bucks about 10 years ago where he made a name for himself as one of the top South African players. — Sapa
