The remaining soccer referees earmarked for questioning in the mop up phase of the Operation Dribble match-fixing investigation evaded police on Wednesday, spokesperson Senior Superintendent Selby Bokaba said on Thursday.
”They didn’t sleep at home,” said Bokaba. ”We only found their wives.”
Police had hoped to add their names to the list of 27 already arrested in the course of the investigation into match-fixing, requested by the SA Football Association.
Meanwhile, three Premier Soccer League referees and one retired referee were due to appear in the Polokwane and Bloemfontein magistrate’s courts on Thursday in connection with the ongoing investigation. – Sapa
