An Australian grandmother — sick of having her knickers peek over the top of the latest low-cut trousers — has designed a pair of backless briefs she predicted on Monday will take the market by storm.
”You’ll never have to pull your knickers out again,” 44-year-old Jan Digney said of her revolutionary design which rides neither up nor down buttock cheeks.
Caught out last November when a new pair of ”hipsters” revealed a little too much of her underwear, Digney decided something had to be done.
”I asked my daughters and they said they wore micro-mini G-strings but sometimes they didn’t wear anything at all,” she said.
”I was horrified. I didn’t bring my daughters up like that.”
So five months, 50 prototypes and 300 000 Australian dollars (US$213 000 of savings later, the grandmother of two has come up with what she thinks is the perfect answer to VPL (visible panty line).
The Pert Backless Brief, patented in 123 countries, features two adjustable bra-like straps which extend around each thigh, sit under the buttock cheek and come together at the gusset.
Despite appearances to the contrary, Digney said the briefs are extremely comfortable and are guaranteed not to fall down thanks to the adjustable straps.
”Even if you go on a diet you don’t have to get a size smaller in your knickers, you just do the adjustment and everything’s lovely” she said.
Launching the first batch of 35 000 only last week in colours that include black beauty and pink petal, Digney said the briefs were ”generating a lot of curiosity”. – Sapa-AFP
