Two goals in the space of eight minutes gave Santos victory over Bush Bucks at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Wednesday, winning by 3-0.
There was no score at the interval.
Playing in a strong south-easter, Santos should have scored in the second minute but Carlo Scott’s shot was well saved by Jacob Mokhasi, diving to his left. Twenty minutes later, Reuben Cloete had centred and Scott, who only had to lob the ball over the goalkeeper’s head, put it high over the bar.
In the 31st minute, a one-two between Malonishwa Mbambo and Bulelani Matross saw Mbabmo’s shot saved by Ryan Wuest. In the 39th minute, Jonathan Armogan centred but Matross kicked high over the bar.
A minute after interval, Cloete beat three defenders in the box before calmly scoring. Eight minutes later, Jason Lakay broke down the left and his shot flew into the net.
Matross had a chance in the 55th minute when, with an open goal, he kicked high over the bar.
The home side increased the score in the 66th minute when Thembile Kanone made good ground before passing to Scott, who easily scored. — Sapa
