Leopards beat stubborn Silver Stars

Black Leopards are through to the quarterfinals of the lucrative Coca-Cola Cup after they claimed the scalp of a stubborn Silver Stars side in an exciting match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday night.

Both teams displayed a good brand of football from the first whistle, and it came as no surprise when they were tied 1-all after regulation time.

Leopards’ winning goal was scored by Mulondo Sikhwivhilu in the 106th minute.

Leopards were the first to score through their captain, Duncan Lechesa, with a scorcher in the 21st minute taking the half-time score to 1-0.

Stars equalised 11 minutes into the second half through Koketso Mmotong.

It was a first win for the Leopards against Silver Stars in a premiership or cup tie in the top league — and a great result for their coach, Ephraim ”Shakes” Mashaba, who was determined to win this match. — Sapa
