Two more bodies were discovered in a drain pipe on the Samrand road in Centurion on Saturday morning, bringing the total number of bodies found in the area to four, Pretoria police said.
Spokesperson Captain Piletji Sebola said a team of detectives made the discovery when it returned to the scene to search for possible clues.
The body of a young child was found by quad bikers on Friday afternoon, while the first body was discovered in a manhole in the same area last week.
Sebola said the first body was found lying at the end of the drain pipe, presumably after being swept there by water.
He said the circumstances in which all four bodies were found were similar, which suggests a possible link, and involvement of the same suspect or suspects.
However, he rejected speculation about the possible existence of a serial killer, since the investigation is in its early stages.
The bodies and heads of all the victims were covered in plastics, but the cause of death in all the cases is still unknown, Sebola said.
”Post-mortems and forensic tests will be conducted to determine the time and cause of death.”
Sebola said the identities of the victims are still unknown.
”Information pertaining to ages and gender of the bodies recently found will not be made public to protect the investigation under way. Our first priority is to identify the victims.” — Sapa
