Sales in Denmark of the anti-impotence drug Viagra and similar products are predicted to soar during the festive season, according to sex advisers and drug company spokespersons.
In 2003, sales of such drugs increased 17% in December on the November figures, the group Danish Drug Information was quoted as saying in the newspaper Politiken.
”December is a special time for couples. It is a dark time of the year when we are close and would like to have a fun time, also in our sex life,” Marianne Egense of the Danish Sexology Centre told the newspaper.
A spokesperson for pharmaceutical company Lilly said sales of its anti-impotence product increased 14% in the first 10 days of December, compared with the corresponding period in November.
Spokesperson Kare Geil said the increase can be attributed to the fact that more free time over the holidays also generates ”some expectations that may need a little help” among men. — Sapa-DPA
