Bloemfontein Celtic added woes to the troubled Jomo Cosmos when they beat them 2-1 in a Premier Soccer League match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng on Sunday.
Cosmos are hanging at second from the bottom of the log after they suffered their sixth defeat. They played their 12th game and now have 11 points from two victories and five draws.
Celtics moved to sixth spot after registering their fourth win and have amassed 17 points from four wins and five draws in 13 games.
Comsos, hosting the poorly attended match, led from the 17th minute when Sam Magalefa hit home a long strike from outside the penalty box that had goalkeeper Simon Gopane scrambling.
Then Siyabonga Nkosi drew level for Celtic in the 46th minute after John Maduka sent him a finely timed through-pass.
Bamusza Sono came close to increasing Cosmos’ tally, but his attempt found Gopane equal to the task in the 49th.
Tipa Biebienzenu rattled the net, putting Celtic ahead in the 69th minute and giving them a well-deserved victory. — Sapa
