Manning Rangers’ woes continued when they were beaten 2-0 by 10-man Ajax Cape Town in a Castle Premiership encounter played at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday night.
The visitors led 1-0 at the interval.
The first goal of this dull match was netted by Thembinkosi Fanteni in the 19th minute, thanks to an excellent cross ball from Kanku Mulekelayi.
The home side should have equalised in the 45th minute, but were let down by the selfishness of Linos Chalwe, who took a shot in an awkward position, instead of passing the ball to Alton Meiring, who was in a better space to score.
Ajax continued to attack in numbers in the second half and their efforts were rewarded when Brent Carelse converted Wilfred Mugeyi’s cross in the 49th minute.
In the 88th minute, Ajax’s Dominic Isaks was given a red card after committing a second bookable offence. — Sapa
