The president of Athletics South Africa (ASA), Leonard Chuene, on Thursday announced that the outgoing CEO, Banele Sindani, will be replaced by Linda Ferns, in her new capacity as general manager of ASA.
Chuene said that the ASA board had met over the weekend in Durban, and had unanimously agreed that Ferns will be best suited to fill the role of general manager.
”It’s business as usual for ASA, and we believe that the 11 years of service at ASA has provided Linda with the experience and maturity to carry ASA to the next level.
”The board of ASA has expressed its confidence in Ms Ferns as the best person to take charge of the ASA office,” said Chuene.
Ferns said that while she is humbled by the board’s decision, she is very excited about the challenge that lies ahead, and gave her assurance that she will do everything in her power to build on the foundation laid by the outgoing Sindani. — Sapa
