Dynamos drop valuable points

Dynamos dropped two valuable points when they drew 0-0 against the relegation-threatened Manning Rangers in their Castle Premiership match played at Giyani Stadium on Wednesday night.

Dynamos demonstrated some elements of character from the opening minutes of the encounter but the Durbanites were equal to the task as they also launched their own attack through Alton Meiring.

The hosts rested their deadly marksman Sandile Ndlovu after the 24-year-old returned from Mauritius, where he honoured a Bafana Bafana assignment over the weekend for the Cosafa Cup.

Despite the point, Rangers still find themselves in a relegation quagmire and they must avoid further stalemates or losses in their remaining matches.

Dynamos should have scored in the 27th minute but Mpho Maleka looked on in disbelief when he was denied by the crossbar.

The second half saw the action swing from one half to the other as both sides tried in vain to score, but goals remained hard to come by.

Maleka also came close to scoring seven minutes into the second half but once again, the crossbar had the last laugh.

Rangers’ lethal striker Meiring also fluffed scoring opportunities in the 34th and 66th minutes, and eventually the two sides had to settle for a draw. — Sapa
