Stars drop two valuable points

Silver Stars dropped two valuable points when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bloemfontein Celtic at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday. Stars led 1-0 at halftime.

Stars opened the scoring through veteran defender Willem Jackson from the penalty spot in the 28th minute. This was after Celtic’s Solomon Mketle had brought down Stars striker Koketso Mmotong inside the box.

Celtic equalised through a header by Timothy Batabaire in the 79th minute.

The hosts were unlucky not to score in the dying minutes when a powerful strike by Dingane Masanabo was brilliantly saved by Celtic goalkeeper Vincent Ongandzi. – Sapa
